Coulterville Museum

Docent Program

Docents serve as the official hosts and hostesses of the museum, greeting guests and providing interpretation of the artifacts and exhibitions both informally and through guided tours.

Whether you have time to only commit to one morning or afternoon a month or would like to be active more frequently, we welcome your involvement!

The Coulterville  Museum is only as strong as its Volunteers!

The NMCHC was founded by a dedicated group of volunteers, some of whom remain active.

With the exception of a part time office manager, the entire museum is run by its Volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunities Abound…no matter what your interest.

To become a docent you must be a member in good standing of the HistoryCenter.  New docents will learn about the fascinating history of the area and about the many artifacts and displays that fill the museum along with basic operating procedures. You are then paired with an experienced docent for as long as you feel it is needed.

“I wanted to do something besides pull up weeds!”  Soon my husband Bob joined me because he was jealous of all they fun I was having. We meet fascinating people from all over the world just as excited about our local history as we were when we visited the castles of Europe.”
